VALLEJO, Calif. (KCBS) -- Several Vallejo schools threatened with being closed because of declining enrollment have been given a temporary reprieve.
The Vallejo school board put off making any decisions after meeting with some 700 concerned and angry parents, teachers and students who showed up at Hogan High School’s auditorium Thursday night.
Hogan High has been the site of several anti-closure protests and was one of the schools on the chopping block.

The Vallejo City Unified School District wants to shut down several schools in an effort to save $1 to 1.5 million.
The school board plans to wait a month before taking up the issue again. By that time, incoming board member Adrienne Waterman will be seated.
State Administrator Richard Damelio has recommended closing Hogan High School and relocating the students to Vallejo and Bethel high schools starting in the 2010-11 school year, and closing Springstowne Middle School and Vallejo Middle School in 2011.
The school district claims it has lost 4,000 students in nine years, resulting in a total loss of about $20 million in annual revenue.
