SAN RAMON, Calif. (KCBS) -- More than a hundred volunteers crowded Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon, and packed gift packages for troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Nan Fuchs has a son in the Air Force and she figures he'll enjoy one of the 1500 packages. She was packing up some of the candy that people donated.
KCBS' Tim Ryan reports
Other things going in the packages included socks, cigars, books, CDs and DVDs and other treats, all donated.
Becky Hultgren of Castro Valley is a Blue Star Mom whose daughter serves as an Army nurse in Tikrit, Iraq. She hopes to see her daughter in February.
The packages were driven to SFO where they boarded a plane overnight for both capitols. They should arrive at about the same time as Santa.
