Here's how we handicap the races right now. Forget the conventional wisdom and never mind the polls; this is how WE think the candidates are faring, relative to each other. THE SYSTEM: The symbol after the candidate's name reflects how they're doing this week. A plus sign (+) means they're moving up; the minus signs (--) mean they're slipping; an equal sign (=) means they're holding steady.
