SANTA CLARA (KCBS) -- After being shut down since December the Robert Avenue power plant in Santa Clara shuttered due to safety concerns may soon be reactivated.
KCBS reports the plant has been off-line since December after several employeees reported dangerous working conditions to Cal-OSHA. Larry Owens with the Silicon Valley Power Utility says they shut down the plant December.
KCBS’ Matt Bigler reports
“It could be another week or two. The concerns are being addressed as always and we’re very proud of our safety record and our ability to operate a power plant safely,” according to Owens. “It’s only seven megawatts and a five hundred megawatt portfolio, so it’s fairly easy for us to find replacement power,” Owens added.
According to the San Jose Mercury News a massive tank with two hundred thirty five degree water over-pressurized and nearly exploded.
