Family of Kidnapped TV Journalist say He Took Risks to Get Stories

San Jose, Calif. (KCBS)  -- The television journalist kidnapped in Gaza has ties to the South Bay. His family there is hoping for his speedy release.

KCBS reporter Matt Bigler in the Santa Clara County Bureau said it has been a nightmare for the family of Steve Centanni, the Fox News reporter who was abducted by masked gunman.

"It has us on pins and needles," said Centanni's brother Ken who lives in San Jose. He told CBS 5 that Fox News has told them that a lot of kidnappings have taken place in Gaza recently and everything is being done to secure his release.

"That's my brother. He didn't mind stepping into the positions that were a little bit risky to get the good stories. We're very proud of the things he's done but now we want him to quit," said Ken Centanni.

Steve Centanni has worked for Fox News for 10 years. Before that he was a radio reporter in the Bay Area and a producer for KRON television.
