San Francisco, Calif. (KCBS) -- Time is running out on getting tax discounts and car-pool lane stickers for people who drive hybrid vehicles.
KCBS reporter Holly Quan in San Francisco said one of the perks to driving a hybrid, other than great fuel economy, is the ability to drive in the carpool lanes with just one person in the car.
But according to the Department of Motor Vehicles, those prized yellow stickers are going to run out in the next two months. The state put a cap on the number of permits to be issued at 75,000 a year ago and now there are fewer than 9,000 left.

"Most people who drive hybrids don't just do it to save money. That is an added benefit. They also have other concerns like promoting new technology, looking for alternative fuel sources and trying to reduce global greenhouse gases," said Sean Comey of AAA.
