Bob Price

KCBS Business Editor, Bob Price, began his radio career at the age of fifteen in Wisconsin. Starting as a board operator, before his senior year in high school was over, Bob had worked every on-air job at the station as a fill-in. "I was hooked!" says Bob. "Here we are 40 years later and I'm still at it!"  Bob does his daily KCBS financial reports from the Pacific Exchange in downtown San Francisco every half hour at :25 and :55. He also covers the market's "Opening Bell" at 6:40 a.m. and the "Closing Bell" at 1:10 p.m. and does other reports throughout the day.

Bob has covered some of the most important news stories in the nation's history including the Nixon resignation, the Kent State University shootings, the Reagan assassination attempt, and the Dot Com crash. Of these stories, Bob recollects, "Nixon's resignation stands out the most. It was like a slow train wreck, preceded by the dramatic Watergate hearings. His resignation was inevitable, his weird farewell speech at the White House ever-memorable followed by the swearing in of Gerald Ford, who wasn't elected Vice President, but was appointed to the job. We'll never see anything like that again."

Throughout his career, Bob has received numerous awards including "Best Newscast" from the San Francisco Press Club, "First Place News Writing" from the Peninsula Press Club, and "Best Newscast" from U.P.I.

Off-air, Bob spends his time on the green perfecting his golf swing. His handicap hovers between 16 and 18. "The occasional good shot gives me hope that I can do that again, so I keep playing," he remarks. To get away, Bob and his wife, Betsy like to visit the Monterey Peninsula as often as possible or sneak away on trips to the Napa Valley at St. Helena or Calistoga. They have been to Kauai at least a half dozen times and are connoisseurs of fine Italian food and red wine.
