Mountain View High School Open After 2-Alarm Blaze

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (KCBS)  -- Officials in Mountain View are investigating a two alarm fire at Saint Francis High School.

The school cafeteria and kitchen were both damaged in the fire that broke out just after 1:00 a.m.

City fire department spokesman Lynn Brown told KCBS reporter Matt Bigler that it "looks like the fire started outside the building, and burned up into the eaves and the attic area of the building. It was mostly confined to the attic and roof area, it looks like it did not burn down into the rooms, but there was some damage there."

Enough damage so that classes go on Tuesday, though the cafeteria will be closed, according to school president Kevin Mackey.

"We'd love to have our kids come [Tuesday], and enjoy probably some free pizza and sandwiches, and the normal classes -- classes as usual," he said.

"There is minimal damage to the school; we will be in session [Tuesday], and that's about it," Mackey told KCBS's Bigler.

Some classes will be relocated while cleanup ensues.

"We did call a second alarm, and got some help from county fire," Brown said. "They sent an engine over to help us out, and we were able to get the fire knocked down."

There was also fresh graffiti found near the cafeteria, that said "Da Vince Code." Police investigators will be looking into the tagging, to see if it's somehow connected to the fire.
