SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- Vice President Dick Cheney made a flash visit to Silicon Valley today. As KCBS's Henry Mulak reports, he's in town to speak at a fundraiser.
Cheney was in Menlo Park where a reception for the Republican National Committee.. There, the vice president was expected to garner support, -- and ultimately, funds for the Republicans.
San Jose State Political Science Professor and KCBS Political Analyst Larry Gerston says that even though the Bush administration doesn't enjoy much support in California, Cheney will be able to raise money to help Republicans in the November election.
“California is a land of considerable wealth,” said Gerston. “The administration is somewhat on the defensive in trying to protect as many seats as possible this November, so it’s a good opportunity for the vice president to come out here, raise some money, and take it back and spend it in those places where it can do some good.”
The reception was held at Sequoia Capital, a venture capital firm known for helping the likes of Apple Computer, Yahoo and Youtube get off the ground.
